USE CASE · WINE & SPIRITS

Follow every bottle from cellar to glass.

A code on the label tells drinkers where the bottle comes from. It tells you which market it reached, and when a code turns up once too often.

THE PROBLEM

What gets in the way

  • Refilled bottles

Empty premium bottles get refilled and sold again, labels and all.

  • Grey-market cases

Allocations meant for one country get shipped on to another.

  • Copyable labels

Holograms and plain QR codes copy along with the label. With Lumilios, the scan pattern gives a copy away.

THREE STEPS

How it works

  1. A wine bottle’s back label with a small code beside the lot number.ALDERMOOR ESTATERESERVE RED · 2022750 ML · 13.5% VOLSPECIMENLOTL22-0418BOTTLED 03/2024

    01 · LABEL

    On the back label.

A signed code goes beside the lot number or on the neck collar, one per bottle.

  2. A phone after a scan: the code verified, then the winery’s page with vintage, region and tasting notes.ALDERMOOR ESTATECode verifiedReserve Red2022 · 750 mlVINTAGE2022REGIONAldermoor ValleyTASTING NOTESBlackcurrantCedarVioletlumilios.com/verify

    02 · SCAN

    At the table.

Drinkers open your page: estate, vintage, tasting notes. No app.

  3. A dashboard view: one bottle’s code scanned in several cities, flagged for review.LM-6W2R-81TDLOT L22-0418REVIEWSCANREPEAT SCANSYOUR MARKETS

    03 · WATCH

    On your side.

Scans outside the bottle’s market, and codes scanned again and again, are flagged for review.

REGULATION NOTE

About e-labels

Under Regulation (EU) 2021/2117, wine can move ingredients and nutrition behind a QR code, on a page with only the mandatory information. Keep that e-label separate; Lumilios works alongside it.

FAQ

Asked before you asked.

01Can a code stop refilled bottles?

Not on its own: a printed code can’t see what’s inside the bottle. Lumilios flags a code that keeps being scanned in new places, so a refilled bottle back in circulation stands out.

02Can Lumilios be our EU wine e-label?

No. An e-label page may carry only the mandatory information, with no marketing or tracking. Keep it separate and put the Lumilios code alongside it.

03Do spirits need an e-label?

Not under EU law today. Spirits makers have a voluntary commitment to show energy on the label and share ingredients and nutrition online.

04How do we spot grey-market diversion?

Set the countries each product is meant for. Scans outside them are flagged on your diversion dashboard with the batch and city.

05Can one code carry the check and our story?

Yes. One scan shows the result of the check and your page: estate, vintage, tasting notes, whatever you write.

06Do drinkers need an app?

No. Any phone camera opens a web page in your colours.
